Teaming up with former resident artist of 660, Alex Pergament, Fathom brings the same brand DIY arts community vibe to Paterson, NJ in a 5000 square foot converted live/work space, but this time opens it up to the public in a more inclusive way with residents, key holders, and visitors all sharing and contributing to the we-work environment and rehearsal space.
At PROTOTYPE237, the aesthetic draws on all the content inherent to Fathom’s previous art community’s interior, but embellishes it with a more structured approach keen on creating a truly immersive and inclusive creative experience for the artists living and working there, as well as the clients and guests visiting.
John Fathom was the Creator and Art Director of 660studios, a 4 story arts enclave and community in Jersey City, from 2003-2018. As an artist, Fathom's style leans heavily on a distressed heavy wooden formula that is more than simply intentional weathering: its aesthetic is inspired by the French farmhouses of the old. Not just antiqued, but rather exposed to the elements, lived in, and worn from use. In addition to his furniture, Fathom works on interiors in this same vein.
For his ILLUMINATED PAINTING SCULPTURES he boxes up paintings in a similarly worn and exposed-to-nature aesthetic, as a contrast to their bright lights and vivid imagery which is quite literally intended to hijack your imagination and draw you deep into a chasm of color and chaos.
Fathom's custom works span a diverse intersection of creative mediums, as he always collaborates with his clients to bring their ideas to life while customizing around their needs.
