Every 4th Saturday at Prototype 237 in Paterson, NJ. Experience the freedom of Tango in a non-judgmental, beautifully curated art space, with hardwood floors, professional lighting and sound, and a welcoming, risk-taking environment. An open level class is typically held at 7p, before Milonga open floor at 8p. There’s a featured live DJ and instructor every time!

NrIsh is a new dance music community in North Jersey, and this free, monthly open decks event is where it all begins, the first Friday of every month.

We're gathering at Prototype 237, a creative hub in the heart of North Jersey, to connect, dance, and build the scene that we want, right in our own backyards. Whether you're behind the decks, painting, spinning flow arts, or just dancing and enjoying the scene, this night is about building a community together, fueled by music, love, and acceptance. Every Foundations has a featured upcoming or experienced DJ.

Join Prototype 237 every third Thursday of every month for a lineup of new bands, who sign up for set slots organically via Instagram at the top of each month.

Are you experimenting with a new project and wanna try it out? Do you love our stage and just haven’t been on it yet? WE GOT YOU! Third Thursday is a chance to dive into the magic of our slice of heaven. It’s a night of “First Say, First Play” sets, picked right from Prototype's home-grown community. Here’s how it works:

1. At the top of each month, we’ll post the Third Thursday graphic to Instagram. Bands DM us to snag a slot!

2. Yes, this show will be hosted EVERY third Thursday, of EVERY month.

3. Performers MUST arrive at 7p for soundcheck.

4. We always pass the hat for bands, so bring all of your friends and come ready to support!

THE ARCHETYPE RESIDENCY is an opportunity for invited bands to intensively hone their craft and produce a high quality studio recording of their work, over the course of three days. On Friday, the resident band has dinner with the Prototype 237 community and gets the lay of the land. Saturday is spent rehearsing and elaborating on written material and preparing for a headline show in the evening. Sunday features a private on-site recording session, under the ear of local recording legend Rob Badenoch, with a wrap party following the end of the session.

We are so excited to announce our inaugural Archetype Resident Band: JOY ON FIRE.

Catch their live show with Thieves in Paris on May 17th! The public has free access to the Sunday night wrap party, with purchase of Saturday’s ticket.

JOY ON FIRE: Currently the house band on That Show, Chris Gethard’s new monthly variety show at UCB NYC, and twice featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, JOY ON FIRE was cited as the “best live band in New Jersey” by youdontknowjersey.com in 2021.  A sax/bass/drum rock-jazz trio that formed in Baltimore and is now based in Trenton and New York City, their most recent release, 2023’s States of America, peaked at #48 on the Roots Music Reports Top 50 Rock Album Chart and their video for “Uh Huh”—the opening track on States of America—is an official selection at fourteen film festivals worldwide.  Their rotoscoped video for “Unknown City,” from Unknown Cities, was a winner at The Brighton Rocks Film Festival.

Additional album releases include Fire with Fire, Hymn, and Another Adventure in Red—# 7 on Concrete Islands “Albums of the Year 2021.”  The band has toured the Eastern Seaboard in support of these releases, from Vermont to New Orleans, and played repeat engagements at festivals and venues including: UCB NYC, The Burlington Jazz Fest, Artscape, The Middle East Café in Boston, Baltimore’s Metro Gallery, The Asheville Music Hall, The Stoltz Listening Room, Shapeshifter Lounge in Brooklyn, The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, and Prototype 237 in Paterson, NJ.  The group is currently working on its seventh and eighth albums, Scenes from an Unnamed Explosion and Devil Logic, and celebrates the 10-year anniversary of its debut album The Complete Book of Bonsai this year.

THIEVES IN PARIS: Thieves in Paris is a trumpet-led folk jazz quartet ranging from dancey grooves to effect-laiden soundscapes. Featuring Nick Afflitto on trumpet, Adam Gustavson on bass, Ken Adessa on drums, and Alex Pergament on guitar.

The Extensions are a New Jersey-based indie rock band with lyrics sharper than a box cutter and hooks as sweet as grape soda. Their new EP "Gravitas" will be available everywhere December 20 via Mint 400 Records. Check out their Youtube.  

Aidan Jack Finnecy is an indie musician who has been recording and performing catchy songs in New Jersey basements since 2019. Check out their Spotify.
